Even though your dreams might seem like a random assortment of images, people, places, and things, they can tell you a lot about what’s going on inside your mind.

Many ancient cultures believed dreams were what happened when the soul left the body (e.g., ancient Greece), while others such as ancient Chinese cultures viewed dreams as a chance to explore the “spirit world.”

Fast forward to current times, and most people agree on the fact that dreams are a kind of link between the conscious mind and the unconscious. Others believe that dreams are simply the mind’s way to process daily events.

In any event, dreams are inherently symbolic of what’s occurring in one’s mind. This means that there are interpretations that can be drawn from your dreams, which can assist you in making decisions across all aspects of your life.

This is partly why online psychics for dream interpretation have gained a large following in recent years. People are yearning for answers, and thanks to the power of the internet, those answers are available 24/7.

This is particularly true when it comes to matters of the heart and relationships.

Romantic relationships can be difficult enough to navigate on their own, especially if you don’t know what to talk about on a first date! But when you add complex dreams into the mix, things can get tricky to fully comprehend without the assistance of an experienced psychic/dream interpretation professional.

The purpose of this blog is to bring you an uncomplicated, easy to digest (yet fairly in-depth) look at dream interpretation – and why it can be a valuable asset to your relationships.

In the following sections, we’ll take a look at specific symbols that might have direct correlations to your relationships, as well as some of the more common types of dreams that you can have.

Whether you’ve been experiencing troublesome dreams or wholesome ones, use the guide posted below to gain more insight as to why you might be experiencing them (and what they might mean for your relationships).

The Basics of Dreaming: Common Types of Dreams

As we’ve already mentioned, the history of dreams goes back to the early beginnings of human civilization. As long as we’ve been dreaming, we’ve also been trying to find out exactly why we dream (and what the meanings of those dreams might be).

Generally speaking, there are many different types of dreams (it really depends on who you ask). However, for the sake of brevity, we’re only going to cover the most common ones.

Normal Dreams

Of course, there is the most common type of dream, otherwise referred to as a standard dream. This is what people think of when they think of “dreams.”

That is a random assortment of images, places, things, etc. Sometimes it might be people they’ve met, sometimes it might be someone they’ve never seen in their life. These dreams are incredibly common, and most people have them at least a few times per week.

Nightmares

The second most common type of dream is the nightmare. Everyone has had at least one nightmare in their life. Usually, these types of dreams are very frightening and shake us to our core.

Nightmares usually have the inherent ability to attack us where we feel most vulnerable.

With that being said, nightmares are actually very common and it’s actually normal to have one every once in a while. Think of nightmares as the mind’s way of processing itself.

Typically, there’s nothing major to worry about with a nightmare.

Lucid

The third type of dream, and the one which is arguably the rarest, is called a lucid dream. If you’ve ever had a lucid dream, you might have noticed that you were in control of the entire dream.

This is in direct opposition to a normal dream, where it’s more like you’re watching a movie (or passively participating). Lucid dreams are the exact opposite, with many people reporting that they have total control over all aspects of the dream.

Lucid dreaming is a very fascinating subject because when one gains the ability to control their dreams, it can have a tremendous impact on their life (when they’re awake).

Many people use lucid dreaming to approach/conquer fears, gain confidence, and otherwise gain more confidence.

Dream Symbols and Relationships

If you’re in a relationship and you’ve been experiencing recurring dreams, or more specifically recurring symbols within those dreams, there could be a direct correlation between those symbols and your current relationship.

Dreaming your significant one cheating:

One of the most common dreams that people in a romantic relationship experience is that their significant other is cheating on them. Do you think is this a sign of a cheating partner?

If you’ve had this type of dream, don’t worry it’s incredibly common. More often than not, the recommended advice is to not take the dream literally.

The most common reason that people have this type of dream is that they have anxiety about their partner cheating on them (not that their partner is actually cheating on them).

You see a bear:

Another very common dream symbol is a bear. Humans are naturally afraid of bears (since they were once our natural predators).

If you’ve experienced a dream with a bear in it, you would be wise to take note of exactly how you respond to the bear.

If you run away from it, fight it, etc. Your response in the dream can be indicative of how you have been responding to issues within your relationship.

You’re attacked by a dog:

Dogs are one more very common symbol found in our dreams. Because dogs tend to represent loyalty and friendship, they often represent our loyal relationships in dreams.

Therefore, if you have a dream where you’re attacked by a dog, that could represent the fact that you feel uneasy about your relationship (or unsafe in some way).

On the flip side, if you have a dream that features a friendly, loyal dog, that could mean that you’re content with your current relationship (and feel safe that you have a loyal, trustworthy partner).
